What is this policy?

We live in a world where AI is being added to almost every product we use. It's hard to know if your personal data is being given to AI models as prompts or to train models. To help you, we have created this policy which explains how we use AI because we value transparency and honesty.

How we use AI

Feature: Automatic approval of assets and amendments

AI models used: Gemini 2.5 and Gemini 3.1

When an asset is published for approval, all of its data (such as title, description, category) and some of its attached images are given to the AI model(s) to analyze and return a percentage estimate if the asset should be approved. After 48 hours if it has not been approved by one of our volunteers, the site checks its AI evaluation and if above a threshold (plus some other criteria), will automatically approve it. This is an improvement over our previous system of just auto-approving everything after 48 hours.

Feature: Suggestion of fields and similar assets

AI models used: Gemini 2.5 and Gemini 3.1

When editing a draft, the editor can ask AI to suggest new values for the fields. When an asset is approved, the AI is asked for some similar assets (to help other people find similar products).

Feature: Bot Detection

When a user signs up (and for existing signed up users) we automatically ask AI to determine if the user is a bot or not. The result is outputted to staff for human intervention (which may result in a ban).

We do not have any rules about AI content in assets and other places (but it is up for discussion).
