The TL-122-C was the designated upgrade for the TL-122-A and TL-122-B flashlights when it was issued in April of 1944. However, the TL-122-C was the most widely utilized version issued to U.S. troops. The TL-122-C was primarily made of plastic to assist in the war effort by reducing its use of vital metals. One of the main components of the TL-122-C included a button used to quickly turn the flashlight on and off for signaling purposes. Additionally, the TL-122-C featured an extendable base with a compartment that housed a number of colored lens filters and spare bulb. The recognizable design of the TL-122-C and its crookneck was copied numerous times by various countries after World War 2, seeing their use continue even into military's of the modern day.
